The Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones & God - Who Moved?

Jerry, God & Success!
The merger of God, religion and sports has always been a mixed bag. Athletes regularly mention divine assistance in their professional quests, some more overtly than others, but they fail to somehow mention the true role God plays in defeat. Somehow, God only seems prominent in the success of a team and players.

America's Team has it's own claim to God, though. And it's generally been accepted within American culture since the 70's, when Lee Roy Jordan claimed that God was an active Spectator from Heaven through the hole in the Texas Stadium Roof. This became a part of the Legacy of the Cowboys.

This is also what was inherited by Jerry Jones in his purchase of the Cowboys in 1989. In fact, in the spirit of that legacy, Jerry later informed the world that he told God he only wanted three Super Bowl Trophies. After that, Jerry was on his own.
Jerry's frustrated!

Well, Jerry got his three from the most holy of sources. Since then, Jerry's been wildcattin'. For almost two decades, dry holes have become the replacement for Divine Approval. And Jerry's ticked off!

Jerry, try repentance! It surely can't hurt!.................But it does require a certain amount of submissive bending of the knee and heart.

But knowing Jerry, maybe he's relying on God blessing the just and the unjust. I'm fairly sure which one Jerry thinks he is. What I'm unsure about is which one God thinks Jerry is! It might make all the difference, a difference not seen for quite awhile around here.

American Resistance, Tyranny & The Politics of Jesus

Many Christians perceive President Obama as a tyrant in the tradition of Hitler and Stalin.
The American brand of a true relationship with Jesus Christ through repentance and faith has wrought an unusual mandate for those interested in currently living for Christ in a public manner. In the face of what has been taken as an unprecedented attack on the Bible, Christianity and the Constitution, many are responding with nothing more than threats of what the government will face if they try to fulfill their threats of unlawful actions against the citizenry.
Is this how the Child of God is to repond?
The Bible has an answer for us if we will but listen. And it comes from none other than Jesus Himself. Peter, known as a firebrand, tells us the course to follow in such circumstances. I Peter 2:

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:

Admittedly, following Jesus in this manner cannot be easy. Yet, there it is, a very clear and direct command.

Yet, American tradition teaches us to resist, to threaten, to speak ill of those God has ordained as public officials. And yes, this same tradition teaches us violence.

And yet, Jesus, under the tyranny of Rome, a victim of that tyranny, chose to do none of what American tradition would demand. And we are commanded to follow His example.
Does the idea of suffering like Jesus make us a little uncomfortable?

Has the Constitution supplanted the Bible as our authority? Has Tradition trumped the Word of God? Does the politics of the moment, of the culture, determine how we are to proceed?

Once again, Whom do we Trust? Whom do we follow? Whom do we Obey?

Obama, Gun Rights & The 2nd Amendment - The Politics of Gun Control & Ammo

President Obama - Vice President Joe Biden leading the charge against guns!
The right to keep and bear arms as detailed by the 2nd Amendment has not been exactly an endearing part of the Unites States Constitution to President Barack Obama and his administration. In fact, since the latest school shooting in Connecticut, it has been under direct attack. Threats of the regulation of assault style weapons and their ammunition, even the outright banning of them, have abounded in an unprecedented manner as of late.
Ammo has become rare!
The result has been consequences unforeseen by most. While many have flocked to retail stores and local gun shows purchasing rifles and ammo, the ammo has suddenly become scarce. Retail shelves are bare of the most common ammo and unusually low on most other uncommon ammo.
Large crowds at gun shows
The blame for this situation may be foisted upon the citizenry at large, which shouldn't be entirely surprising since politics are involved and the current administration has never catered to those opposing their 2nd Amendment attacks. But this is really nothing more than a political smokescreen and, in this case, is really rather easy to see through.
Govt Agencies purchasing huge quantities of ammo.
The plain sight regarding this scenario is provided by remembering the previous actions of the Obama Administration during 2012. Non-Military Domestic Agencies have purchased more than 1.5 billion rounds of ammo during the past calendar year alone. The main reason given when Officials were asked about this unprecedented accumulation of ammo is simply the "need" for public safety.
Public Safety is the "Need."
Personally, I fail to see how it is safe for the average citizen to not have a bullet to use in his own gun when they legitimately need to defend themselves. I would conclude, that in this case, the individual citizen is completely on their own when it comes to acquiring ammo for personal private use. Political consistency would demand, however, in the spirit of ObamaCare, that the government mandate the personal purchase of a minimum amount of ammo for personal protection. Of course, that mandate would also include the mandatory purchase of a personal firearm for every adult citizen. (Wow! There's a thought for you)

The result of all this political chicanery is that government personnel are fully outfitted to defend themselves while the rights of the individual citizen are left intact, though effectively neutered without ammo for their 2nd Amendment arms.
Keep your guns, but what about ammo?
This sounds like hard ball politics with ammo being the actual weapon of choice.

Fortunately, the Child of God has more at stake in this look at future violence for the individual. God has promised in many places in the Bible to be the shield of protection if we look to Him. The problem for many is that they look to others besides God for personal security. And the discerning Christian understands that, sometimes, God may choose to include his people in the judgment executed upon others. And even the committed Child of God may be ready to stand firm in the face of tyranny, regardless of whether or not God delivers them. They simply refuse to disobey God, even if God allows them to die.
Ultimately, Whom do you trust?
So, you may Praise the Lord. You may pass the ammunition, if you have any. But Whom do you place your trust in?

The Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones & Decade of Futility by Ryan Bush

This blog is about the Politics of Heaven. Since the Dallas Cowboys have the reputation of having God watch them through the hole in their stadium roof (The old Texas Stadium & the new Cowboys Stadium), I thought it only appropriate to mention the following news.

+Ryan Bush from Central Texas is soon to publish a book, Decade of Futility - How the Leadership of Jerry Jones Transformed America's Team into a 21st Century Debacle and resulted in the Worst Decade in Dallas Cowboys History. He decided to initiate this project after publishing a weekly column about the Dallas Cowboys, Cowboys Corner, in several small newspapers in Texas for three years.

Ryan has just initiated a blog and website (still under construction, but partially operable). Please visit the sites, take part in the conversation, and remember to leave your email address for immediate notification upon publication through Amazon, United States and Europe.

The Politics of Voter Fraud and Collusion

Voting more than once is not allowed!
One News Now has published this post about the GOP looking to change the election laws on the state level as they relate to the Electoral College. This effort stems from the wailing about rampant voter fraud that was heard around the country after the last election. President Obama was essentially said to have stolen the election as a direct result of widespread criminal activity surrounding many aspects of voting activity.

While this is strictly a matter of the GOP against the Democratic Party, it must be reminder of the legal precedent, no, the legal agreement in place and upheld by the Courts that bars the GOP from taking any action against the legal voting process simply by the Democrats asserting any form of racial discrimination against the GOP. The details are in this article from World Net Daily.
So, when the GOP begins to cry about voter fraud and attempt to combat it, it's much ado about nothing. And both sides have agreed to do nothing.

Obama is not speaking and happy about their agreement with the GOP

Even president Obama is not speaking about it!

Sometimes the details of politics can leave one speechless!

Obama, Guns & The 2nd Amendment - Who are you Trusting?

In the wake of the Connecticut school shooting, the Obama Administration has proposed a return to a past ban on the sale of Assault style weapons, a limit on the capacity of magazines as well as a series of unprecedented regulations designed to limit gun violence and provide added safety to the population, especially children. In response, people and groups from various backgrounds have united to fight this political power grab and, hopefully, retain the 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms for protection from both criminals and government.

For Christians who have a stake in this matter, I wonder whose words take precedence in the final response to the proposed initiatives?

The following verses have much to say to the Child of God listening and watching the current wrangling over issues of safety and personal protection.

Deuteronomy 33:27A The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them .
Psalms 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psalms 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Psalms 91:9, 10 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
Psalms 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
Proverbs 3:26 For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.
Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Proverbs 21:31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
Proverbs 30:5B he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.

The message is clear. Ultimately, God is the provider of safety, protection and deliverance for His People.
Does this mean that God's people are not to exercise self defense? Are they not allowed to own a weapon, even a gun?

Of course not, but in the quest and desire to have certain laws in place that allow us to exercise certain rights and privileges, have we discounted the rule of God over His Creation, especially those who have had the blood of Christ applied to their sins by faith? Has God been relegated to the status of a backup source of strength, wisdom and power in our lives? Absent the means to protect oneself, do we really think God is able to protect and deliver us?

I have a feeling that God is drawing a line in the sand across this country to find out who is on His side. And like God's people under the captivity of Babylon, we have a choice of who we will serve, even if He doesn't deliver us like Daniel and the Three Hebrew Children, even if the laws put into place are bad. We should make our choices now, rather than choosing God as a last resort because, as His Word reveals, He really is our safety, our Life, our Way, our Truth.
