Ken Ham & Bill Nye Creation Debate - Science and the Bible

In case you haven't heard, Bill Nye The Science Guy has agreed to debate Answers in Genesis Founder Ken Ham at the Creation Museum in Kentucky on February 4th.

Interestingly, atheists are starting to downplay the credentials of Bill Nye as well as encouraging him to not follow through with the debate.

The agreed-upon topic for the 7 PM debate is “Is creation a viable model of origins in today’s modern scientific era?”

This verbal clashing of world views, evolution and special creation, is already proving to attract a lot of media attention.

I just thought I would share this casual day of rest observation.

It shames me to say that most professing Christians are cowards and wimps. They are afraid to seriously study the Word of God and even attempt to live by it simply because the cost of doing so is too great. It will require them to change so much in their lives and make them too different from others around them. The ridicule from such changes is too much for them to bear.
So, they continue merrily along their way living their accommodating life that mirrors this world, espousing the same kind of wimpy, syrupy sweet, live any way you want to because Jesus loves you anyway! kind of life for God. This kind of life sounds great until you compare it with the Bible.
And this goes for the leadership of most churches as well. Of course, the reason these leaders hold these positions is because the people in the pews want it that way. There's nothing like official approval for your disapproval of the Word of God!
The sad part of this reality is that It's pervasive In churches today. It's the norm rather than the exception.
No wonder Jesus asked if He would find faith on this earth when He returned.

Well Ken Ham has done it again! Christians everywhere are upset with this noted apologist because he dared to tell the truth....again. Last year, it was challenging Bill Nye the Science Guy to a debate after Nye made disparaging comments about the literal Creation account and those who believe it. Now, Genesis creation is again involved, but on a different front.

 It must be admitted, though, that this time was a little different. He was a little too specific for the comfort of many. The specifics involved particular people. Ham named them!

So, now many are attempting to calm the rocking boat amidst this tempest of truth from one known for relying on the Bible for his doctrine and lifestyle.

The problem? Ken Ham named those who have publicly, verbally and in their writings, denied a literal six day creation as detailed in the first part of the Book of Genesis. Coupled with that assertion is the belief that Genesis only has doctrinal value in the allegorical interpretation of the stories in the book of Genesis rather than the literal  historical narrative account.

Ken is to be commended for taking the proper stand on such a vital issue. We need more men like him in this day of relativistic teachings coming from pulpit, podiums and publications!

In the seemingly never ending antagonism between science and religion over the issues of the validity of the theory of Evolution as opposed to the literal merits of the Bible, there usually fails to be a truly coherent understanding of the major issues at hand. This happens for various reasons but, regardless, there need to be some clarification in order to at least begin to eliminate some of the confusion that many seem to have in attempting to draw basic conclusions. I believe this to also be the case in the recent furor created over the comments of Bill Nye The Science Guy and Ken Ham, Creationist proponent from Answers in Genesis.

The first thing that I believe is vital to eventually coming to understand the issues involved and resolving any supposed conflicts of information is patience. Any one who thinks that they will begin to wade through the voluminous amounts of information available to inspect and compare and immediately come to an understanding is being slightly naive.

The second thing I believes needs to be understood is that there is a huge amount of information available that is simply wrong to begin with or the information available has been used in the wrong fashion and is being presented with certain conclusions being presented as fact. This is true of both sides of the debate. Yes, that includes the "Christian" side.

So, not everything presented as science is truly science as observable and verifiable fact. And not everything presented as Bible Truth is verified as Truth when compared to the whole context of the Bible.

Bill Nye, The Science Guy has recently caused an uproar over his video assertion that it is inappropriate to teach children that Creation as recorded in the Bible in the book of Genesis is factually correct. Proponents of the Theory of Evolution, of which Bill Nye is one, insist that the facts of the modern scientific record do not support the literal account of Genesis.

A portion of this video was recorded in front of the Creation Museum built in Kentucky by Ken Ham, founder of Answers in Genesis, an apologetics ministry. It has currently received over 3 million hits.
